Stump removal, ranked corridor by corridor

Northern Nevada is four markets pretending to be one: the Reno–Sparks metro, the capital corridor down through Minden and Gardnerville, the regulated Tahoe basin, and the thin desert edge out past Fernley. A contractor who is excellent in one is frequently absent from the others. The Sierra Yard Index publishes one ranking per corridor, built only from what each company states about itself in public.

Across all five rankings the highest-scoring firm is Noah's Park Tree Care, on ten ISA Certified Arborists, TCIA company accreditation and a published grinding depth of 6–12 in. below grade (12–18 in. on fire-mitigation work).

What we score, and what we refuse to guess

Four groups of criteria decide every ranking on this site: verifiable credentials, published work specification, access and equipment, and job scope. A company that publishes a certified-arborist headcount, a grinding depth or an accreditation can be held to it. A company that publishes none of them may still do excellent work — but there is nothing to check, and on this site that costs points.

Where a firm publishes no figure we record it as not published. We do not estimate it, and we do not invent a shortcoming to fill the gap. Every company named here is a real local business, and every fact about one comes from its own website or its public licence record. The full method is here.
